January 1 - Financial Plans for the New Year
First let me say Happy New Year!
It has been a great year for us. My wife and I have paid off just under $108,000 in debt since we started paying attention to our personal finances about two years ago. We have $23,000 to go and then we'll just have a house payment. In 2006 and 2007 we did lots of stuff that we were never able to do before - most of it was just as simple as not worrying about things that would usually make us worry... such as making the property tax payment - car tag renewal, medical bills, etc. Christmas used to be something that we worried about too, but no more!
If you have not already started some sort of financial plan, do it this year! It will change way more than just your checkbook! Relationships improve, your work-ethic improves - as strange as it may sound, your spiritual life improves too. Less worrying makes room for GOOD thoughts in your head :) All of these things make for a happy new year... year after year. It is the gift that keeps giving!
