Are Prepaid Funerals A Good Deal?

Plans for prepaid funerals give low rates of return and put money in someone else's pocket. It is smart to preplan for your funeral, not prepay. The rate of return you make on freezing the funeral prices would not be as great as if you invested that money in mutual funds that would gross an average of 12% over many years. For example, if you paid $3500 for a prepaid funeral at age 40. And instead, you invested in the $3500 in a mutual fund averaging 12% for the average life expectancy to age 78. The $3500 will grow to an average of $368,500. That should pay for a funeral and then some!
